The new iPhone OS 3.0.1 that fixes the SMS vulnerability that allowed hackers to gain control of your iPhone can be jailbroken using the same procedure as the previous 3.0 jailbreak. You do need to use the latest version of Redsn0w 0.8. I have updated all the download links to the new version.
After you have updated your iPhone to 3.0.1 you can follow these instructions exactly to jailbreak it.
OG iPhone
iPhone 3G
iPhone 3G[s]
When you come to the step where you browse for your firmware, you want to select the 3.0 firmware that you downloaded, even though you are running 3.0.1 This will trick Redsn0w into jailbreaking 3.0.1.
When you are done, you will be jailbroken running 3.0.1 and be totally safe from the SMS hack.

Following these directions will result in a jailbroken iPhone 3G[s]. The iPhone must be running 3.0 firmware. I recommend backing up your iPhone with iTunes before we start, just in case something goes awry.
First, you need to download these 2 files:
(All downloads require login)
Redsn0w 0.8 for Mac OS X: Redsn0w 0.8 iPhone 3G[s] (Mac OS X) (231)
iPhone 3G[s] 3.0 firmware: iPhone 3G[s] 3.0 Restore Firmware .ipsw (591)
Once you have saved these files to your desktop for easy access, we will begin the jailbreak process.

Rock Your Phone has released a new app called MyWi. MyWi allows you to turn your iPhone 3G into a WiFi Hotspot that you can connect multiple devices to. MyWi can connect your laptop to the internet through WiFi, bluetooth, or directly through USB. The app only works with the iPhone 3G at the moment, but they are working on adding the iPhone 3G[s] to the supported devices. UPDATE: It seems that if you install RockYourPhone from Cydia instead of the desktop application, it works with the iPhone 3G[s].

It has been confirmed that the Ultrasn0w unlock app for the iPhone 3G does in fact work for the iPhone 3G[s] as well. You do need to jailbreak first with Geohot’s Purplera1n solution.
Purplera1n does not activate your phone so you will need a legit AT&T sim card in order to jailbreak, but then you can unlock with Ultrasn0w, availble in Cydia, then slip in your T-Mobile sim.

The iPhone 3G[s], with it’s upgraded 3 MP camera, includes video recording but Apple decided to keep that ability exclusive to the new device. The OG iPhone and iPhone 3G get the step child treatment because Apple says the camera is not good enough to record video. I am here to tell you that both older model iPhones are quite capable of recording video and I will show you how to get it for yourself.
