dj_icon128_refTHE NEW WAY TO DJ

Touch DJ is a completely new way to create stunning DJ mixes whenever you like. You can touch and feel your tracks, move around them, scratch them, EQ them, loop them, and mix them even without prelistening.

SPLIT MODE

As an alternative for the users who really need to prelisten to the tracks, Touch DJ also offers a second “Split” mode of mixing which requires the usage of a special L/R splitting adapter.

EXTRA FEATURES

Among extra features – LP filter FX for each track, vinyl Spin and Break effects, onboard sampler with 3 sample slots (accepts .WAV files) and the ability to record samples via the microphone. As a bonus, Touch DJ is shipped with 25 dance tracks provided by DanceMusicHub.com so that you will be able to start jamming away instantly.

IMPORTANT!

Currently it is impossible to get the music from the iTunes music library. This is a technical restriction which cannot be resolved. Touch DJ uses its own MP3 library. To get your own music into Touch DJ: use Wi-Fi (slow) or companion programs (fast) available for PC (Win) and Mac OSX. Contact us at support@amidio.com if you need any help regarding getting your own music into Touch DJ.

With Apple’s new parental controls introduced into iPhone OS 3.0, apps that previously would have been rejected for “mature content” are now able to be sold on the app store with a 17+ age rating. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2009 is a prime example of this somewhat ridiculous rating system.

Rock Your Phone has released a new app called MyWi. MyWi allows you to turn your iPhone 3G into a WiFi Hotspot that you can connect multiple devices to. MyWi can connect your laptop to the internet through WiFi, bluetooth, or directly through USB. The app only works with the iPhone 3G at the moment, but they are working on adding the iPhone 3G[s] to the supported devices.  UPDATE: It seems that if you install RockYourPhone from Cydia instead of the desktop application, it works with the iPhone 3G[s].

The Facebook app for the iPhone is pretty good but lacks many simple features available on the web version.  Joe Hewitt, co-founder of Facebook, posted what the upcoming Facebook 3.0 iPhone app will include.  I’m excited to finally be able to view “Pages” and notifications being linked to comments so it’s easier to reply.  Here is a full list of what is coming in the 3.0 update.

1. The “new” News Feed
2. Like
3. Events (including the ability to RSVP)
4. Notes
5. Pages
6. Create new photo albums
7. Upload photos to any album
8. Zoom into photos
9. Easier photo tagging
10. Profile Pictures albums
11. A new home screen for easy access to all your stuff, search, and notifications
12. Add your favorite profiles and pages to the home screen
13. Better Notifications (they link to the comments so you can reply)
14. Quickly call or text people right from the Friends page
15. Messages you are typing will be restored if you quit or are interrupted by a phone call

Hewitt says that he is about 98% finished with the app; he should be submitting it to Apple for approval soon.

According to Hewitt, everyone is asking for push notifications, but they will not be implimented in this 3.0 update, more likely a 3.1 update later this summer.  I’m not sure if I would want push notifications with Facebook.  If so, I would want to have a lot of control as to what pops up on my iPhone.  If every new comment or every time someone sent me a “keg” triggered a notification on my screen, I would never be able to get anything done on my iPhone.

AT&T has released it’s re-branded TeleNav mobile navigation software, AT&T Navigator for iPhone.  TeleNav also partners with competitors Sprint and Verizon with their GPS solutions: Sprint Navigator and VZ Navigator.  The app itself is available free in the AppStore, but in order to use the service it will cost you $9.99 a month as an add on to your data plan. The monthly fee does include free map updates and live traffic updates.  If you do not use GPS all the time you can start and stop the subscription at any time.

Major League Baseball has provided streaming video clips of game highlights in their At Bat iPhone app for some time now, but beginning tomorrow an update to the app will allow users to watch live baseball games on the iPhone over 3G and Wifi networks.  This update will require the iPhone to be running the latest 3.0 firmware, which is due to release today.

As of tomorrow, only two games will be broadcast for the iPhone: Chicago Cubs-White Sox at 2:20 p.m. ET, and the Detroit Tigers-St. Louis Cardinals at 8:15 p.m.  MLB will deliver 2 out-of-market games per day via the iPhone but has plans to include all the games they provide via MLB.tv in the near future.  As stated, all broadcasts available will be out-of-market which means, if you live in the local market for the team you will not be able to watch it on your iPhone or iPod Touch.  Nationally broadcast games on FOX and ESPN will also be excluded from the iPhone stream.

The Business Insider

If you follow a lot of people on Twitter, it can be overwhelming to try and keep up with everyone.  TweetDeck for PC and Mac desktop has functions to create filters for your tweets.  If you have more than a couple hundred people you follow, most likely you don’t read each and every tweet.  With TweetDeck you can create a filter for specific people that you absolutely want to see all the time.  You can create a number of filters (columns) so that you can break down the people you follow into groups such as friends, business, development, funny, etc.  I have been using a similar product, Seesmic, that has slight differences but functions in much the same way.  Both TweetDeck and Seesmic also connect to your Facebook account so you can “totally social out”.

TweetDeck has announced that they will be releasing an iPhone app version of their product tonight at midnight EST.  Whether it actually comes out on the App Store at that time is up to Apple and their approval department.  Pete Cashmore with Mashable has reported that they have had a chance to demo the product and is quite impressed.  They are reporting that the iPhone app also syncs with the desktop client so you have one seamless experience whether you are on your iPhone or computer.  In my experience with the TweetDeck desktop client I find that it is a major memory hog; I wonder if they have been able to slim it down so that it doesn’t crash the iPhone all the time.  A list of the apps features are:

- Column based friend groups (like TweetDeck desktop)
- TweetDeck desktop syncing (make a change on the iPhone and it’s reflected back on the PC)
- Facebook toolbar like status updates
- Multiple account support
- Flicking to move between columns
- Shake to refresh
