It seems as though the entire world is mourning the death of “The King of Pop”, Michael Jackson, by listening to his music, as evident by the surge in music downloads in iTunes. As of this posting, Michael Jackson holds the top 9 album downloads as well as 7 of the top 10 singles with “Man in the Mirror” on top. “Man in the Mirror” with its ballad style and good hearted message seems to be soothing mourners in their time of loss.
Many forms of Media are paying tribute to the pop star’s passing. MTV has put their normal programming of reality tv to the back-burner and is airing non stop videos, documentary, and live coverage from street parties in NYC celebrating Michael Jackson’s death. Many Sirius XM stations will be devoting their programming to Jackson. VH1 Classic will reportedly dedicate the entire weekend to nothing but Michael Jackson.
Climbing to the top of the iTunes charts is no easy task, let alone taking the top 10 in both singles and albums. Michael Jackson also has taken top spots in ringtone and video downloads. This spike to the top of iTunes comes at no surprise with millions of people looking for ways to comfort themselves, but brings to mind the old adage, “You are always worth more in death than in life.” How long will this surge last? Will it possibly help pay his reported $400 million debt, we will have to see.
It still amazes me how quickly this group of hackers are able to get into devices and find holes they can exploit. A jailbreak and unlock solution is confirmed by the iPhone Dev-Team. The same 24Kpwn exploit used to jailbreak the iPod Touch 2G with Redsn0w can be used for the iPhone 3G S, confirmed by the iPhone Dev-Team late last night.
They have not packaged a jailbreak solution yet, but because of the same basic weaknesses that allow Redsn0w to jailbreak the other Apple devices, it should be no time at all till we see it released. They explain that they want to make sure that they safely package this before release, which didn’t take them that long for 3.0.
An unlock solution has also been found for the iPhone 3G S, it’s called Ultrasn0w. Yes, the very same application to unlock the iPhone 3G has been confirmed to work with the iPhone 3G S. They say that Ultrasn0w is ready right now to unlock the 3G S, without any modifications what-so-ever.
I don’t want my samsung instinct anymore and I want the palm pre to be my new phone because it has the active cards thing and my phone doesn’t have that.So what do I have to do?
Yesterday Microsoft announced retail pricing for Windows 7 that was at or below comparable Windows Vista prices, while also offering a chance for people to pre-order the software at a substantial discount.
Starting July 11, consumers in the U.S. will be able to buy an upgrade copy of Windows 7 Home premium for $49 or Windows 7 Professional for $99. That offer is good for both XP and Windows Vista PCs, regardless of whether someone has been trying out the pre-release version of the operating system.
The upgrade is only for a limited time and will be available at Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft’s own store, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Costco, Staples, Wal-Mart and several other retailers.
Retail copies of Windows 7 go on sale on October 22, upgrade prices will be $119 for Home Premium, $199 for Professional and $219 for Ultimate.
The full versions of Windows 7–the editions for those without a copy of Windows–will be priced at $199 for Home Premium, $299 for Professional and $319 for Ultimate.
Zodttd, who brought the first game emulators to the iPhone, has now figured out a way to run his PSX4iPhone Playstation emulator on the iPhone 3G S. Yes, iPhone 3G S! Zodttd has accomplished this without having to jailbreak the device, but simply through using DiscAid for PC and Mac to move the application to a publicly writable directory on the iPhone 3G S.
Previous emulators for the OG and 3G iPhone were a bit laggy, but with the new faster hardware of the iPhone 3G S, it is running very smooth.
If you would like to try this, Zodttd is offering to make a limited number of builds of the software. You will need to send him your unique device ID and $10.
Still up for it? Since I have only a limited number of slots to fill to send out this build, it will currently cost $10 and you must email me your 40 character device ID (UUID/UDID) as provided within iTunes. Send the email with your UUID to zodttd@zodttd.com and I will respond as quickly as possible with instructions for payment. Then I will send you instructions to download and run psx4iphone on your iPhone 3GS.
I am halfway through my 2 year contract with Sprint and there are some problems with my original Samsung Instinct and have not been pleased with the phone for quite some time. I have insurance and if I turn it in, I can get the new Instinct s30 or get $599.99 credit at Best Buy and purchase the Palm Pre out of contract for $849.99. So is spending an extra $250 worth it?
My insurance is through Best Buy so that is the only way I would be able to do this. Also keep in mind that I only have 1 year left in my contract.
This was just too cool to not share. The video itself is beautiful, but add in a huge eagle trying to knock the remote controlled eagle out of the sky, priceless.
Billwhit uses a Creative VadoHD video camera strapped to the fake eagle to capture this amazing dogfight in real life.
AT&T has released it’s re-branded TeleNav mobile navigation software, AT&T Navigator for iPhone. TeleNav also partners with competitors Sprint and Verizon with their GPS solutions: Sprint Navigator and VZ Navigator. The app itself is available free in the AppStore, but in order to use the service it will cost you $9.99 a month as an add on to your data plan. The monthly fee does include free map updates and live traffic updates. If you do not use GPS all the time you can start and stop the subscription at any time. Read the rest of this entry
