The only way that I know is go to a Wireless Mobile store that does Unlocking or Flashing for about $30 to $40. Or if you know whats the code or ways to program it then thats another way to go.
I hear a lot of people are having trouble unlocking there iphone 3G after they update to the v 2.2.1 .
so if you updated your iphone you will need a turbo sim to unlock you iphone.

once you jailbreak the device you can use a sim card attachment to unlock it:
Just remember that if you do unlock your iPhone it will void the warranty so if any of these 3rd party unlocking programs break your phone, you are looking at around $400 to buy a new one.
Try these guys out, they unlocked my 3G and it’s working without any issues.
