Instructions How To Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 3G With Redsn0w and Ultrasn0w
The long awaited Ultrasn0w soft unlock for the iPhone 3G has been released. In order to unlock your iPhone 3G you first need to update to 3.0 and jailbreak with either Redsn0w or PwnageTool. You can find instructions for jailbreaking here: How To Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G
After you have jailbroke your iPhone 3G you then need to go to Cydia and add the source: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com
To do this first open Cydia and click on “Manage” then “Sources”
Click on “Edit” in the top right, then “Add” in the top left.
Enter the source: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com (the last “0″ in ultrasn0w is a zero not the letter o) Click “Add Source”
Click on “Changes” and install Ultrasn0w
Reboot your iPhone 3G
T-Mobile USA customers make sure to turn off 3G data before using Ultrasn0w. The iPhone uses a different frequency than T-Mobile so you will only be able to get Edge data.
To turn off your 3G data go to Settings –> General –> Network and then turn off 3G
You should now be unlocked and ready to use with any GSM carrier. If you have any problems please leave a comment so we can help.

Thanks for your elaborate instructions, I have done that but my iphone is not connecting with internet so how do I install untrasn0w now.. Please help if possible. Thanks Wasif
What carrier are you trying to use? If you have already jailbroke and installed Ultrasn0w and you still cannot get any data then you may just need to go into “Settings” –> “General” –> “Reset” –> “Reset Network Setting” After doing that, reboot your phone and you should be good to go.
Thanks HarvesT for your response, actually it seems there may something wrong with the wifi hardware or may be, somehow it has been locked, when I try to connect by giving the network name and password it says “cannot find the network” I have tried all sorts of settings, resettings, finally I erased it and then I needed to use wireless network wifi to unlock through ultrasn0w, however, just a couple of hours back I found a site where there is a file which can by used instead of using cydia (which needs wifi). I ran the batch file and it worked now I am connected to the carrier it is waridtel in Karachi Pakistan. Thanks again

i m mohammed frm india and i wanna use iphone here in india with idea carrier …..does doing the above steps i can use any carrier ? hav u tried more than 1 carrier …kindly let me knw….and if u come 2 knw that its working in india …coz ill b buyn iphone from US..

Yes I have used more than one carrier here in Pakistan therefore I think any carrier can be used anywhere, after jailbreak.
