@T4Taco You’re right. No one bothered making a WebOS app for the iPhone because hardly anyone cares about WebOS. Haven’t you heard? Palm is dead. The are looking for someone to buy them out rather than run the company completely into the ground. It’s sad really.
@dontMatter963 so where’s that WebOS app? We have an iPhone theme, too bad nobody uses it because like the iPhone, it’s boring.
blackberry sucks big time.
I like this guy.
He is really smart.
Still won’t buy a Pre.
Might as well get an app called iPREtend and just run a fake OS copying the iPhone OS.. LOL.
yea i was about to text that. He did an excellent job and because he stated his reasons for having a conflict of interests, it made it appear that he wasn’t being bias. This guy should be sprint or palms main media person.
I’m not trying to be harsh, the Pre isn’t even out yet. But you do realise the iPhone runs UNIX, in fact the same kernel used by Leopard 10.5.4 on the desktop? iPhone runs BSD based Darwin UNIX, recompiled for ARM. The jailbreak community have ported the rest of the BSD tools over, Lynx browser, gcc, ssh, all the usual jazz. The iPhone ships with applications sandboxed for data security; 25,000 apps so far, no viruses. If Palm provide a native SDK instead of the Web one then we’ll see real apps.
pre is going to be running based on linux which means it will manage the phone useage alot better than the iphone and that way it’ll manage to give the user optimal performance that’s how it’ll be faster i mean its not going to be worlds fast but it’ll be significantly faster than the iphone and as for the games things its too soon to kno.right now there only focused on the important things.they’ll get to the games thing later on down the line.
“iPhone will have a webOS app”
what??
yeh, i was totally sold..
Not bad Roger
This guy is good!!! What a salesman!
Well if you listened to that guy he said it wasn’t about competeing with the iphone or blackberry but making a product that would lure consumers from dumb phones.
How can the Pre be faster when it’s using WebKit, used in the iPhone and Android phones? If you will recall, when iPhone launched it had web based SDK development only, and was shunned for it. Many web based games and apps were made, but it was only a year later when the native SDK launched with the AppStore that things realy took off. Palm Pre won’t survive on web based development alone. Native is much faster than browser/webkit based. No real games for Pre. 3rd gen iPhone will be out by then!
Paraphrase: “We aren’t making an iPhone Killer, we’re making a productivity device.” iPhone will have a webOS app a few days after the Pre comes out, and all your left with is “but it has a better camera”.
